SoulHer Powered Media Productions was founded by Kels M. Wellington. She earned a B.A. in Broadcast Journalism from the University of MD, College Park, and immediately went to work as a videographer/photojournalist for over a decade, shooting for the top-rated news stations in the greater Washington, DC area, including WRC/NBC 4, and WTTG/FOX 5. She always knew she’d pursue doing bigger and better things, and followed-up by earning a M.A. from American University, focusing on the business aspect of the industry.
Her love of life, culture, social issues, the metaphysical, and thirst for learning and sharing knowledge, has compelled her to start SoulHer Powered Media Productions, to fulfill her vision of creating new storytelling opportunities exploring a wide variety of topics for television, news, and film, and to help provide more opportunities for people of color in the industry.
“Ever since I was a kid I’ve pretty much known what I wanted to do. I love the process of TV/film/video production and the ability to blend different elements to create something tangible that was once just an idea that popped in my head. This is a powerful medium, and I want to help others achieve their ambitions, and make media that matters and has a positive impact in society. My vision is that we will create content that not only entertains, but also educates and inspires!”
